| ON-Line POKER in Tucson Posted By: Mark Brement - September 28th, 2006 Category: Poker News | There are five monumental features in Internet poker that make the game a most alluring proposition:
There is a strong learning curve for beginners. I can play alongside a beginner and guide him while online. This simply would not be possible in a live venue. A new player can also play many more hands per hour, which provides much more experience in a shorter time span.
For obvious reasons, it is more convenient to play on-line poker. Beware, as this can be a double edge sword.
There are over 50,000 players in games ranging from .25/.50 to $2000 No-Limit. Add to this a full venue of tournaments with many special events, and what you have is poker heaven for any poker enthusiast.
There are huge Jackpots! A Bad Beat Jackpot is defined as a very strong hand that is beaten by a higher hand and is financed by the site taking a 50 cent drop from each pot. Recently a close friend won $60,000 in a $2/4 game where he had quad nines beaten by a straight flush. This occurred on Party Poker.
SWEEET!!!
The ability to multi-game. (This is sort of like the VIP lounge) For expert players, the opportunity to multi-table (play 2-4 games at once) is a great source of revenue. I often play three or four games, knowing in advance that I will quit at a designated time. The 300 hands that I play in 1 hour would clearly take ten to twelve hours in a casino!
In short, poker is booming. Brick-and-mortar casinos casinos are here to stay. But on-line poker has it's niche. The most important personal attribute that on-line poker offers me is the ability to spend time with my daughters, ages two, three, and seven. Before I ventured on-line, I was on the road three to five days per week.
